Does your company have a tagline? Do you need one? A tagline (or slogan) is a great way to consistently display more information about your company as well as a possible differentiation from your competitors.
Where do we start? First, we have to decide one determining factor: does your company name describe the basics of what you do: Sam's Auto Repair, The James Insurance Group, Brown Cow Advertising, etc. If so, you can develop your tagline with more variety. If you company name does not state your business, than it makes sense that we should describe it within your tagline
The important element in a tagline is that the customer needs to identify with it and understand it. If they don't immediately understand the message, then unless you have a large budget for advertising to describe it, you may want to rethink the direction.
There are about five different styles of taglines. Typically, we will develop several taglines within each of the styles. Along with that, we develop a positioning statement for certain taglines. You need to know, not only what your tagline is, but what it means and how it will be used in your sales process.
